Q: How does 1-on-1 tutoring work?
A: Your child will get tailored sessions to work toward their goals.
I work with students Kindergarten through high school. My professional teaching experience is with students K-5. My passion is math, grades 6-12. I have the unique ability to combine elementary teaching strategies with higher level math lessons, to make complex concepts easier for all.
If I am unavailable or unable to help your child, I have many local teacher friends who can!

A: School year hours: Monday-Thursday, 2-8 pm, and Friday 2-6 pm
Summer hours: Monday-Thursday, 9am-12pm & 3pm-7pm, Friday 9am-12pm
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Half-hour tutoring sessions are $35.
One-hour tutoring sessions are $65.
Group classes are generally $30 per session, 6 week sessions, $180 total.

A: You can pay before/ after each session and I will email you a receipt.
Preferred payment methods:

Q: Where are you located?
A: Amy's Schoolhouse is located at 122 N. 1st St. in DeKalb, IL.
Q: Where do I park?
A: Enter the parking lot off of 1st St. You can park in the small lot in the front of 122 N. 1st St. If the parking lot is full, you can park on N. 2nd St. and cut through Palmer Court, or you can park on Lincoln Highway.
Q: How often should my child come?
A: This is different for every family. Most of my students come once a week for an hour, others come twice a week for a half hour. Once we find a common day & time together, I will schedule your child through the end of the semester, so we don't lose their time slot. We can adjust the schedule at any time.
Q: What should my child bring?
A: This depends on the child's individualized goal, which we will create together. Some students bring homework and test review packets. Others bring nothing with them and we use materials I have to improve deficit areas or work on enrichment.
Q: Do you offer other educational services?
A: Yes I do! I help other moms with homeschooling questions, I work with students to fill out college & scholarship applications, and I'm designing tutoring sessions for ACT & SAT practice. I also offer periodic group study sessions on Sundays. If you'd like help with another academic area, please ask!
Contact me to refine those academic skills so your child feels confident!
